Ethiopia has planted more than 350 million trees in 12 hours as part a national effort to tackle the climate crisis and deforestation.
Launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia’s national reforestation programme has an ambitious target of planting 4 billion trees by the end of the rainy season in October. Which means planting 40 seedlings for every person in the country.
What about other states?
That makes reforestation the most effective solution for mitigating the climate crisis, the researchers concluded. Planting more than 500 billion trees could remove around 25 percent of existing carbon from the atmosphere, a new study has found.
